Minimalist Posters – Reflective comments
Im incredibly happy with the two finished posters, both I feel met the given brief. Engaging visual posters that also offered playful interpretation were the end result, but they also offered the viewer the possibility to engage with them on a deeper level, imagining what meanings are behind them.

Throughout the minimalist poster design process we were shown how often paired-down and simple visual language can sometimes be much more powerful and effective in getting through to a busy audience. The unusual use of mostly everyday objects can often draw peoples attention simply because its simple, its actually refreshing in a world of complicated and shouty advertising.

Even though our goal was idea generation, not the finished product as such I was incredibly happy with both my final ideas and the way I produced them.

Freezoning Signage – Design Process
I don’t have much to say on my design process for my final sign. There actually wast a whole lot of idea generation within our group during the task. I simply chose one of my ideas based on the ease of the graphics and the fact it could be achieved with three colours or less like a standard piece of signage.

The brief asked each student to produce a sign based off a project called ‘freezoning’ in Copenhagen. In ‘freezoning’ areas different signs encourage members of the public to engage in a variety of activities, some of which are uncommon in society.
In keeping with the theme of uncommon activities I chose to produce a sign encouraging people to feel free to wear just their underwear or swimmers.
